AMPED On Energy Camp
The Amped on Energy Intensive provides students with an immersive opportunity to explore Alaska’s diverse energy landscape while gaining firsthand exposure to careers that power our state. Through this hands-on experience, students travel across regions of Alaksa to see how energy is produced, distributed, and used, connecting classroom concepts to real-world applications.
Participants tour a wide range of energy-producing facilities, training centers, and infrastructure that demonstrate both traditional and emerging energy systems. Past experiences have included visits to Marathon Petroleum Kenai Refinery, the Northslope, Homer Electric Association, Alaska SeaLife Center, Cook Inlet Spill Prevention and Response Inc., ConocoPhillips, Alaska Vocational Technical Center, Anchorage Mining and Petroleum Training Service and MUCH more.
Throughout the camp, students engage directly with industry professionals, participate in interactive activities, and explore topics such as electricity generation, oil and gas production, natural gas systems, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. They also gain valuable insight into the wide range of career pathways available from skilled trades and technical certifications to engineering and environmental sciences.
Amped on Energy goes beyond observation, emphasizing safety, environmental stewardship, and the critical role energy plays in Alaska’s economy and communities. By providing these experiences, the program helps students build awareness, spark interest, and develop the confidence to pursue future opportunities in Alaska’s energy workforce.
