Anchorage, Alaska - Alaska Resource Education received the School Business Partnership’s Spirit of Tomorrow Superintendent Award for its partnership with the Anchorage School District’s Academies of Anchorage. The award recognizes ARE’s Natural Resource Management class at Dimond High School.

“Congratulations to the members of our education team who helped make this class a success, especially to Program Director Beki Toussaint for her vision and leadership,” said Ella Ede, Executive Director of ARE. “Without Toussaint’s proactive involvement through the planning process, there likely would not have been a natural resource management pathway within the Academics of Anchorage.”

The School Business Partnerships’ Spirit of Tomorrow Awards celebrate businesses, schools, educators, and students for their outstanding involvement and commitment to further educate and connect tomorrow’s leaders. They aim to recognize outstanding school-business partnerships within the Anchorage School District. When they were created in 1996, there were 190 community partnerships. Today, there are more than 400 partnerships.

“Alaska is full of bright young minds and our goal is to educate them about Alaska’s wealth of natural resources and the potential careers within the many natural resource industries. Our partnership with ASD on courses like the Natural Resource Management pathway allows us to further our mission. We’re grateful to ASD for their support and partnership,” Ede said.

The award was presented during the April 14, 2025, Anchorage Chamber of Commerce “Make it Monday” event. To learn more about ARE’s mission or to schedule an interview about the award contact Ella Ede, 907-229-1780.
